Frequently asked questions
Can't find your answer? Email contact@hollyandfir.co.uk or call 020 7946 0958 - we answer our own phone.
Where are you based?
Our Christmas tree pitch is on the Bandstand outside Waitrose at The Spires Shopping Centre, Stapylton Road, Barnet EN5 4QT. We're open 9am – 7pm, seven days a week from 23rd November 2026 to 20th December 2026.
Which areas do you deliver to?
We deliver across Barnet, North London, Enfield, Hertfordshire and West Essex - including the EN, N, AL, SG, CM, IG, E4 and RM4 postcode districts listed on our delivery page. Pop your postcode into the checker on any product page to confirm.
When should I buy my Christmas tree?
Our Nordmann and Fraser Firs hold their needles superbly, so any time from late November is fine - most customers take delivery in the first two weeks of December. A Norway Spruce is best from early-to-mid December. You can pre-order now and choose your exact delivery date at checkout.
Are your trees really British-grown?
Yes - every tree is grown in Britain, at our Suffolk nursery and our Scottish Highland plantation. We've been growing, wholesaling and retailing Christmas trees for over 12 years, and we replant a tree for every one we sell.
How fresh are the trees?
Cut for the season, not weeks in advance. Because we grow our own and control the journey from field to front room, our trees haven't sat in a shipping container from Scandinavia - which is why they last longer and smell better.
How much is delivery?
Local delivery is £5.00 to any postcode in our delivery area, on a date you pick at checkout. Collection from our Barnet pitch is always free.
Can you take the tree away in January?
Yes - add January Collection & Recycling at checkout (£10) and we'll collect your tree in the first two weeks of January 2027 and recycle it properly. No needles in the car, no trip to the tip.
Do you sell stands?
Yes. Choose a water-retaining stand (the best way to keep a cut tree fresh) or have your tree mounted on a wooden block so it stands straight out of the wrapper. Both can be added at checkout and fitted before delivery.
What's the difference between a Nordmann Fir and a Norway Spruce?
The Nordmann has soft, glossy needles and superb needle retention - the 'non-drop' tree. The Norway Spruce is the traditional British tree with the strongest scent, but it drops needles sooner, so buy it a little later and keep it watered. Our full comparison guide covers Fraser Firs too.
Can I keep a pot-grown tree after Christmas?
Absolutely - that's the point of them. Our pot-grown Nordmanns are container-grown from the start with intact roots. After Christmas, keep yours outside in the pot (water it through summer) or plant it in the garden, and bring it in again next year.
What if I'm not happy with my tree?
Tell us within 48 hours of delivery and we'll exchange it or refund you - we hand-grade every tree before it goes on the van, so problems are rare, but we'd rather fix one fast than have an unhappy Christmas on our conscience.
Can I pay online?
Yes - checkout is powered by Stripe and takes all major debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. You'll get an email confirmation with your delivery date straight away.
